Wild Flower Mom

Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin.

Matthew 6:28-29 says: Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them.

We moms toil and spin all the day long. We work ourselves over until our spirit resembles a poor fried soul who put her finger in an electric socket. Why are we making life so complicated? Why are our schedules so full and yet our spirits running on empty? Why can’t we seem to find any time for each other?

Sucking up control, busyness, achievements, approval, and material things like they are the last drops of rain on earth only turns you into an exasperated robot. There’s hardly any room for love, authenticity, and resting in God’s presence. We get so far off track, lost behind the mask of our false selves. In this state, we are merely hearers of the word, not doers. We seek our own will, not God’s.

Matthew 6:33 goes on to say: But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.

Being a wild flower mom roots you in the natural soil of what is holy and true. Look at those wild flowers, they are incredible! Their colors so brightly illuminated by the sparkling sunlight as they gently sway and decorate the earth in remarkable peace. They are sustained through the Father. Nothing man-made in this world is clothed like them.

Stop toiling and spinning for the world. Only do the simple work God asks of you each day as part of the well-ordered life He intends for you to live. Have faith He will provide. And remember, we are called to be faithful, not successful. We are called to love and serve, not to strain and achieve.

Be like the wild flowers, dear friend. Be your authentic, beautiful self. Just be. This is enough.
